Spuffy Fans!!!

All Spuffy fans welcome! :D

had a two-fold intent, which was to create a role model in the idea of a girl who's a genuine leader and the role model in a man who is not only comfortable, but turned on by that. (Joss Whedon)

Thank you, Miss Kitty. You say, four cast members. Nick Brendon say anything on the matter?

Hi Cil! I'm reading S11, yes, and loving it so far.
@Miss Kitty thanks for the videos!

Regarding Sarah, her opinion wasn't a surprise. I'm not sure that it's an objective one though, I think she liked better the first seasons and was more invested emotionaly in those. I'm not sure she gets what fans liked about the Buffy and Spike relationship. Maybe rewatching the show would make her see it differently, who knows :)

I was more surprised by Joss' answer, since he has been pretty vocal, even recently, about the fact that he was a Buffy/Spike shipper, but I'm wondering if he didn't mean to keep a statu quo for the reunion. But I'm always frustrated with those kind of reunions, because the way they talk about Spuffy is never satisfying to me. I feel like they're completely missing the point or not understanding what fans liked in the Buffy & Spike relationship.

That being said, the EW Cover with James & Sarah is absolutely beautiful! I love the photo they took!

Hi everyone :-) I don't always have the time to comment, but I come here from time to time, I hope everybody is doing okay. Buffy's 20th anniversary has been celebrated in a very huge way by the actors, I was so happy to see them all together again, and all those articles and new interviews were a joy to read :)

I went to the Paris Manga event two weeks ago, and I simply wanted to share my videos about the opinion of those of the cast who were there about "Who's Buffy's greatest love?" (question that was asked by a fan).

The four members of the cast answered Spike, but I especially liked Kristine's answer. I thought I would share the videos with you :)

I think Joss actually said the same thing. That ultimately, the best one for Buffy is Spike. But not from the show.” - James Marsters

I think the relationship with Spike was more what we deal with in a long term relationship.” - Kristine Sutherland

Spike and Buffy, Cordelia and Angel” - Charisma Carpenter

Hi spikette -

So Right - what I took especial dislike to was SMG saying "as Buffy" which IMO, is taking it from her personal opinion as direct commentary on the series.

Everyone can have their personal opinion but for SMG to talk for the character as commentary it's different from her saying "Team Angel" as personal commentary.  And you are right - she has always been a huge fan of the B&A love story.  Just as James Marsters has almost always taken the position that Spike was not the Good Man Good Boyfriend model.  It's good to see that his current position is now that Spike could be the individual who is worthy of her love with his continued development post winning his soul.  This is where the Buffyverse is now for the Spuffy relationship.

Sarah has been Bangel since forever, she luvs David, so her opinion is strongly attached to her feelings. Joss had to be political, but note that he said love story, like in Romeo and Juliet, tragic young love - but Spike is the long run guy, because he was the one who fough for his soul (= did everything to better himself, to be with Buffy); he evolved better. Spuffy isn't a "storybook pure love" (S10, Christos Gage), it's the real thing.

Depressed Now!  All I can say is NEVER FOR ME - I'm committed entirely to the story of Buffy and Spike as the most important story that was told in the series.  Have you read the article?  What did you think about it?

The last time I check it was 70 vs 30 so the Spuffy have increased - the thing is that the earlier votes put Bangel WAY ahead and it's pretty difficult to catch up now.  The same site had a similar Bangel vs Spuffy (not sure who the originator of the polls are) and the results were pretty close to the 70-30 that this one started out as.

Who really follows this kind of site - what is the target audience?  If you look at the results it's - as DD states, more reflective of a general audience and then of a younger audience.  Harry Potter and Pirates Carribean have high amount of votes then the newer franchise films come into.  The Buffyverse is pretty high on the list considering it's  years since it aired compared to the Twilight films or some of the other older TV shows.

Then you have the very high votes of Troy Bolton which must be very popular with younger viewers - I have No Idea who this character is or if this is even a real person.

Supernatural is still being aired which probably has a big number of  Buffy and Angel fans same as LOST did.  The decidedly older viewers would have watched Gilmore Girls and Friends which are close to the number of Buffy votes.

You have very popular show like Doctor Who which shows the obvious popular "Romance Lovers" vs more demanding couple which is similar to Bangel vs Spuffy only that Spuffy is WAY HIGHER on the "demanding critical thinking" category.  Let's face it Spuffy is not the culturally acceptable romantic couple like the Doctor and Rose and Buffy and Angel.

When get into another very popular series Sherlock which does not have high number of votes compared to top rankings - and in this votes - the winners are homosexual over heterosexual but I guess Sherlock and Watson would be what is described as Bromance.  Does a Bromance reflect homosexual perspective?

Some of the very popular films have much less votes and Scandal which is a current TV series has much less votes but it appeals to an older viewer or people interested in politics.  Contrast this to the much higher votes "Santana" couple which much also be a current popular that features younger characters.

So DD's "multi-fandom" and more "casual viewers" is likely correct - BUT I think that Bangel fans also voted in higher numbers and that the SMG "Team Angel" helps this Ship by a big factor.  Let's remember that just after the recent SMG "Team Angel" comments came out the follow up comments were very much in the "It's decided -Buffy and Angel are THE COUPLE."

Anyway - I've spent way too much time on this - Spuffy is, IMO, never going to be the Top Couple of the franchise with the general viewer audience.
